Potential of Ornamental Trees to Remediate Trace Metal Contaminated Soils for Environmental Safety and Urban Green Space Development

Heavy metals are notoriously toxic pollutants which can potentially harm living beings and serious health hazards. The aim of the present study was to assess levels cadmium (Cd) nickel (Ni) throughout year in urban areas densely populated industrial city Faisalabad eight commonly raised ornamental tree species with phytoremediation potential. High Cd Ni were recorded all areas, spatio-temporal heterogeneity. metal uptake varied among plant soil ranging between 6.78–8.57 mgkg−1 46.31–55.85 mg kg−1 respectively. Plant accumulated 6.73–8.98 26.42–52.50 Conocarpus erectus, Dalbergia sissoo Bismarckia nobilis showing higher accumulation potential than others. highest shown a good bio-indicator for this metal. erectus (9 kg−1), followed by (8.2 kg−1) (8.1 while leaves Azadirachta indica retained lowest (6.3 levels. during summer season second observed autumn season. revealed that help minimizing heavy pollution as well providing green space settings maintaining clean healthy environment.
